The consequences for Morgan Wallen are still rolling in when WME confirms that it dropped the country singer after a video in which he says that the N-word made the rounds on the internet.
The agency’s retaliation contributes to the growing list of actions previously taken by Viacom’s CMT and the singer’s former label Big Loud Records. TMZ on Tuesday posted a video of the singer using the racial barrier after an evening with friends.
In light of the singer’s controversial moment, Big Loud Records suspended his contract and CMT removed the singer from all its platforms. Following this, the Academy of Country Music Awards revoked the singer’s eligibility for the current award cycle.
This is not the first time the singer has gone viral for controversial performances.

Back in October, a video appeared on Twitter and TikTok van Wallen attending a party amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Like many of the party-goers, he did not wear a face mask and he even shared a kiss with a maskless woman. Due to viral videos, SNL took Wallen from what would be his debut on the Studio 8H stage, exchanging him for Jack White.
Even after his Instagram apology and its postponement SNL concert, Wallen got a second chance to appear in the long NBC sketch program. In addition to performing two musical numbers, Wallen appears with host Jason Bateman for a sketch mocking the singer’s coronavirus party.
