House President Nancy Pelosi, D-California, repeatedly reaffirmed on Sunday that she had “no tolerance” for sexual harassment, but did not call on the troubled New York government, Andrew Cuomo, to resign.
Both New York Democratic senators – Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand – have joined the growing chorus of lawmakers urging Cuomo to resign because a seventh woman has come forward and accused the governor of some form of sexual harassment or improper touch.

‘I said there is no tolerance for sexual harassment and we have taken measures in the House of Representatives – very strong measures – led by Rep. Jackie Speier from California, ‘Pelosi begins during an appearance in ABC’s’ This Week’.
Speier, D-California, will on Tuesday chair a hearing of the House Armed Services’ military personnel subcommittee to investigate ways to reform allegations of sexual harassment in the military following the murder of Fort Hood soldier Vanessa Guillen.
Pelosi, referring to Cuomo, continued: ‘What I said when these revelations came up, I said what these women said should be treated with respect, these are credible and serious charges and that I am investigating asked. ‘
New York Attorney General Letitia James is investigating allegations of harassment, and Cuomo said he would “cooperate fully” with her investigation. The FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn are also investigating the recognition by its administration that it underreported thousands of COVID-19 deaths in the nursing home during the summer.

“I have confidence in the Attorney General of New York – she, I think, has called for a speedy investigation, and once again with all due respect in the world for what these women have come forward and said,” Pelosi said Sunday. before attempting to distance herself from Congress in New York State. “In terms of … you see talking about New Yorkers now … in general, people have to look at themselves and say, and also government Cuomo, ‘how does their leadership influence the state in the circumstances that are there? ‘ But I do think that the women deserve to hear the results of these investigations, just like the governor. ‘

“But you’re not appealing to him to resign now?” ABC host George Stephanopoulos pushed.
“I think we should see the results of the investigation … but he can decide,” Pelosi replied. “And hopefully this outcome will be soon. What I’m saying is that the governor should look into his heart – he loves New York – to see if he can govern effectively. And that may be one of the considerations he has. . “
Nearly 90% of the delegation to Congress in New York appealed to the governor’s resignation or accusation, as well as more than 80% of state legislators. Last week, the state assembly took the first step toward indictment by appointing a full-fledged subpoena investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against the governor and his handling of COVID-19 at nursing homes.

James does not have the power to remove Cuomo from office, but any findings that confirm the allegations could spark potential prosecution proceedings – or put pressure on Cuomo to leave voluntarily. There is no deadline for completing the investigation, and James did not say how long she expects it to last.
