Palantir, NRG Energy, Berkshire Hathaway: what to look for when the stock market opens today

Equity futures and government bonds climbed On Monday, investors awaited a number of Federal Reserve speakers and data on the manufacturing sector.

Futures linked to the S&P 500 rose 1.2% and contracts for the Nasdaq-100 rose 1.4%. The big progress came when yields on 10-year treasury notes, the standard borrowing cost on global debt markets, fell from 1.445% on Friday to 1.428%. Read our full market cover.

IHS Markit US Manufacturing Index for February, at 9:45 a.m. ET, is expected to be steady at 58.5, unchanged from a reading. The production index of the Institute of Supply Management for February at 10 a.m. is expected to be 58.9 higher than 58.7 a month earlier.

US construction spending for January, expected at 10:00, it is expected to increase by 0.8% over a month earlier.

Market shifters to look at

– PLTR Palantir 4.35%

shares jumped 6.2% ahead of the clock. The move indicates a directional shift after the stock had its biggest weekly sales since its publication.

– Apollo endosurgery APEN 20.90%

increased 37% pre-market. On Monday morning, one of its products received an FDA designation as a breakthrough for medical devices, which could allow patients access more quickly.

– NRG Energy NRG 16.80%

the stock is 13% higher than the market after reporting its full annual results and maintaining its lead for 2021.

– Teladoc Health TDOC 2.84%

shares reached 3.7% futures market. Investors seem to think that even an explosion by the vaccine could not promote the provider of remote medical care via phone and internet.

– Johnson & Johnson JNJ 1.13%

shares added 2.2% pre-market. The first single-dose Covid-19 vaccine, a shot from Johnson & Johnson, was allowed to be used, a major boost to a mass vaccination campaign that ended the deadliest pandemic in more than a century.

Class B shares achieved 2.8% futures market. The conglomerate made an increased fourth-quarter profit on Saturday, with Warren Buffett using his annual mission to investors to explain a recent increase in share buybacks.

Crude contracts jumped early Monday as the solid US aid plan Covid-19 moved closer to confirmation and after Tehran rejected direct nuclear talks, the outlook for oil in the market in Iran diminished.
