Morgan Wallen is not eligible for ACM awards following racial use

Morgan Wallen has another hit amid the aftermath of a leaked video showing him using a racial expression, and will no longer be eligible for one of the biggest awards for country music.

The 27-year-old country star was recently caught on video using the N-word.

His record company, Big Loud, announced that they had suspended their recording contract ‘indefinitely’, while iHeartRadio told Fox News that they preferred to remove its ‘music and content’ from their stations.

Wallen is no longer eligible for this year’s Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards.

In a statement shared on social media on Wednesday, the ACM announced that they ” Wallen’s potential involvement and eligibility for the 56th cycle of the Academy of Country Music Awards.

“The Academy does not tolerate or support intolerance or behavior that is inconsistent with our commitment and commitment to diversity and dedication,” the statement continued, promising to accelerate the diversity training available to the ‘country music artist community’.

Finally, the Academy said it would examine their “award and admissions process” to ensure that the “nominees consistently reflect the Academy’s integrity.”

After the video was shared by TMZ, Wallen offered a public apology for his actions.

“I am embarrassed and sorry,” Wallen said in a statement he shared with Fox News.

“I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial utterance that I wish I could take back,” he continued. “There are never excuses for using this type of language. I sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.”

However, this did not stop the country music community from rejecting his comments.

On Twitter, singer Maren Morris pointed out that “this is not his first ‘bickering’ and he just broke a big stream record last month, regardless. We all know that this was not the first time he used the word. not.”

Other country stars such as Kelsea Ballerini and Mickey Guyton have also condemned Wallen’s actions.

The star also got hot last year when he was caught on video during a packed party that apparently disputed the recommendations on coronavirus safety.

The incident caused ‘Saturday Night Live’ to start the ‘Wasted on You’ singer of the weekend’s show, although he was rescheduled for a later date.
