Hawley declares ‘outrageous’ Honoré appointment: ‘He has no business conducting a security review’

Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., On Tuesday voiced strong opposition to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to elect retired Army General Russel Honoré to lead the U.S. Capitol Security Investigation following the Jan. 6 attack. by a pro- Trump mob.

Hawley told ‘Tucker Carlson Tonight’ that the idea that Honoré would be appointed to lead the security review is ‘absolutely outrageous’.

“This is a man who did what we have seen the Liberals time and time again – he blamed the police first,” Hawley said. “He had no facts, no idea what was really going on, and accused the police and said they were complicit in the rioters.

‘It’s absolutely outrageous, but if you look at his history, he has repeatedly blamed law enforcers, and criticized law enforcers who have been responding to riots this past summer.

HONORED BY REPUBLICANS AS ‘EXTREME PARTISAN’

Honoré is known for his role in the response to Hurricane Katrina and has recently appeared on cable news that is often very critical of Republicans. This, and some of his comments on social media, led to criticism from high Republicans that Honoré is not the best person for the job.

Honoré’s comments from the past, which Hawley described as “downright crazy”, were first highlighted in a previous segment on “Tucker Carlson Tonight”.

“This is someone who has no business or business, leading a security review,” he told Carlson.

Hawley was specifically called out in a tweet from Honoré asking that he be excluded.

“This little piece of s — with his @ Yale degree in law should be taken up by DC soon and turned off as soon as possible,” Honoré said in a post that has apparently now been removed.

However, Pelosi had nothing but praise for Honoré when she announced last month that he would head an investigation into the security situation at the Capitol.
