Demi Lovato will star in NBC Comedy

The actress and recording artist will also be a producer of ‘Hungry’ by author Suzanne Martin.

Demi Lovato will star in a comedy project at NBC.

The actress and recording artist signed on Hungry, a single-camera comedy from Universal Studio Group’s Universal TV and sitcom veteran Suzanne Martin (Will & Grace, warm in Cleveland, Frasier). The project, which also counts Hazy Mills and SB Projects as producers, has a trial commitment from the network, which means NBC will pay a fine if it is not broadcast.

Hungry they will follow a group of friends who belong to a group of food issues and help each other while looking for love, success and the one thing in the fridge that can make everything better.

Lovato, who was candid about the eating disorder, is also executive producer, along with Martin, Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner of Hazy Mills and Scooter Braun, James Shin and Scott Manson of SB Projects.

When it comes to series, Hungry will be the first regular TV role for Lovato since she starred in Disney Channel Sonny With A Chance from 2009-11. She repeats Will & Grace‘s last season last year and did voice work on animated features Smurfs: The Lost Village and Charming. Lovato will also be the subject of a YouTube documentation that will open the 2021 SXSW Festival and present to the Four America TV special during the inauguration of President Joe Biden.

Hungry joins a comedy development list at NBC that also includes three holders from the 2020 cycle: romantic comedies crazy about you and Someone out there and Jefferies, starring comedian Jim Jefferies.
