The Chamber of Deputies approves a living voz hoy, martes, the Project of the Chamber 21 which derogates the Ley 167-2020, which allows a special election to elect six delegates to attend the Federal Congress to accede to the state of Puerto Rico.

The Medida also derogated from Ley 165-2020 and Ley 30-2017, which created the Commission of the Equality to promote the results of the June 2017 plebiscite, in which the state won 97% with 502,801 votes.

The Ley allows a special election and will elect the delegates to approve the finals of the extraordinary session, even though the PNP will lose the City Council of votes in the Legislature.

The representative of the Puerto Rican Independent Party, Denis Márquez, expressed during its debate in favor of the need to attend the colonial condition of Puerto Rico.

“There is a responsibility of this Legislative Assembly, to attend a party and by all means, that it does not pass the error of not addressing the problem. Because immobility is the clearest manifestation of the cancer of colonialism,” said the Independent representative.

So much so, the representative Lissie Burgos Muñiz, on the part of the Dignity Project, raises the need to encourage additional guests without the certainty that favorable results for Puerto Rico during the fiscal crisis that plagues the Isla.

“It’s very honorable for the people of Puerto Rico, we assume these guests are without the guarantee of an exit result and are consistent with the proposals of both cities”, dijo.

For its part, the representative of the Victoria Ciudadana Movement Party, José Bernardo Márquez Reyes, who identifies as a statistician, argues during his round of discussion that, although the result of the past plebiscite favored the statistic, the derogatory media do not represent good use of public funds.

“There are people, like this server, who, albeit coincidentally, face the United States of a time and, to all intents and purposes, believe that the only way to effectively execute is a concerted strategy that includes the descending currents.”

In contrast, the spokesman for the PNP minority in the Senate, Carlos “Johnny” Méndez, during his debate that the approval of this medium is called “democratic lawlessness of a poorer people”.

“It is up to you to approve this decision in order to get rid of it, which is the message that the majority of the population is pushing for,” he argued.
