Biden accuses Trump of hollowing out key national security teams and obstructing the transition process

Elected President Joe Biden said Monday afternoon that the outgoing Trump administration has scrapped deliberate key policies overseeing defense and national security, which, according to Biden, have damaged America’s global leadership role and hampered its own presidential transition.

“The truth is that many of the agencies that are critical to our safety have done enormous damage,” Biden said during a short speech at the Queen Theater in Wilmington, Del. ‘Many of them have been hollowed out in staff, capacity and in The policy processes have weakened or been eliminated. ‘

Biden also accused the White House of stoning his transition team, especially in terms of defense policy. The president-elect referred to these alleged delays as an obstacle to the outgoing government.

“At the moment we are not getting all the information we need from the outgoing government in important national security areas. In my opinion, this is irresponsible, “said Biden.

Recent reports indicate that important political appointments in the Department of Defense have instructed career personnel to withhold critical information, including intelligence regarding the recent massive cyber attack on SolarWinds, from their Biden teammates. Biden has previously made remarks expressing his frustration over the government’s lack of transparency about SolarWinds.

The Department of Defense vehemently denied such allegations, although Biden himself said his team encountered roadblocks from the Department of Defense and the Office of Management and Budget.

Trump has yet to give an election he has clearly lost, despite members of his own confession making silent concessions and resignations. The president, who has been occupying his Florida estate Mar-a-Lago, has been largely silent for the past few days.

Prior to his remarks, Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris met with key advisers on national security and defense, who said Biden emphasized the need for his team to rebuild diplomatic relations with allies who had lost confidence in US leadership.

Biden also briefly touched on the Nashville bombing on Christmas Day and especially thanked the first responders.

“I want to thank the Nashville Police Department, especially the five police officers and first responders who helped save lives,” he said. “I want the people of Nashville to know that the American people are with them.”
