Young woman killed by a bullmastiff rescue dog who ‘bit off her arm’ while neighbors tell of ‘horrible screams’

A YOUNG woman was killed by a dog that ‘bit off her arm’ while she was lying in bed, according to local residents.

The woman, locally known as Keira Ladlow, was alone in the house when she was brutally attacked by the dog, which is believed to be owned by a family member and lived at the address.

Locals heard the girl screaming and screaming for help and the dog barked “incredibly loud”.

Her body was found by a distraught family member.

Police and paramedics rushed to the home in Kitts Green, Birmingham, around 2pm on Friday.

Keira, in her twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.

‘HEARTBREAKING’

The rescue dog, which is believed to be a bullmastiff, will now be put down ‘humanly’.

A source said: ‘The poor girl was heard by neighbors screaming and screaming for help.

“The screams were extraordinarily loud. They could also hear a dog barking incredibly loudly in the house. It was constant.

“The girl was very seriously injured. It was horrible. It is heartbreaking. Her family is completely devastated.”

Abeygail Barrett, believed to be a family member, wrote on Facebook: ‘Her previous dog was a pit bull who died of cancer, and she saved this dog after she found him in a garden where he had been on and off for four years. Was.

“Sometimes dogs are rescued with all good intentions, but their past can make them tragically unpredictable.”

One neighbor said: ‘When the police and ambulances arrived, we were told to go outside because something had happened, and then heard a young woman was dead.

‘I saw the dog being taken away, and as far as I can see, it looked good.

‘I’ve never seen it before and I heard from a neighbor that it was only walked at certain times. She snatched her own dog away from it because she thought it was violent.

“I saw on the news that it was a Staffie, but to be more like a Bull Mastiff.”

One distraught family member told the Sun, “It was a rescue dog, that’s it.”

A West Midlands police spokesman said: ‘No one else was on the property at the time, and the woman’s family signed the dog, believed to be a Staffordshire crossbreed, to police.

“The death is considered a tragic incident, but without suspicious circumstances.

“In time, a file will be prepared for the coroner’s.”
