You can now register to be vaccinated against COVID at Ford Field

DETROIT Health officials announced on Friday that Ford Field would become one of the 20 mass vaccination sites in the country.

On Monday, the first appointments for the mass vaccination site were expected to open. But a last-minute change suspended the process until 5:45 p.m.

Michigan residents can now register for the COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Ford Field in Detroit. The vaccination site will officially open on March 24.

After registration, residents receive an invitation by voice or sms when it’s their turn to plan an appointment. The Ford Field site is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Residents who do not have access to the Internet or need assistance can use the MDHHS COVID-19 Hotline to register. Call Monday to Friday from 8 to 17 hours and Saturday or Sunday from 8 to 13 hours. The call center is expected to have long waiting times.

The vaccine is offered free of charge and insurance is not required. Free parking is available at the vaccination site.
