Would Bruce Arians retire if Bucs beat Chiefs in Super Bowl LV? ‘No. I’m going for two ‘

If the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are the Kansas City Chiefs best in the Super Bowl, Bruce Arians will not be riding on top of the football world at sunset.

When Arians joined 95.3 WDAE in Tampa on Wednesday, Arians was asked if he would retire if the Bucs won Super Bowl LV.

“Hell no,” Arians said, via Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. “I’m going for two. If the Glazers want me again.”

Suffice it to say that the Buccaneers owners want Arians back, winning or losing.

The Bucs signed Tom Brady last season with a two-year contract, which opened a Super Bowl window. Tampa realizes the plan to beat the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game. The victory over Kansas City in its home stadium will confirm the Bucs’ status. The 2010 Packers are the last team to win a Lombardi trophy as a game card team.

For the 68-year-old Arians, retirement can come at any turn. He “retired” after the 2017 season in Arizona due to medical problems. After a year away, he is back with Tampa in 2019.

The idea that Arians could walk away after winning his first Super Bowl as head coach was a potential storyline that led to the February 7 showdown. This would have resulted in Arians leaving Tampa in the capable care of defense coordinator Todd Bowles or offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich.

Instead, the veteran coach dropped these questions early.

If the Bucs win, the QB Whisperer will give it up again with Brady.
