Why Miranda Lambert performed with Chris Stapleton on behalf of his wife Morgane at the ACM Awards in 2021

Miranda Lambert lent a good hand or voice to Chris Stapleton on Sunday during his performance at the 2021 Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards.

The Stapletons would perform their husband-and-wife duet “Maggie’s Song,” but minutes before the awards were to begin, Morgane, 38, had to bolt to fulfill a prior commitment, according to People magazine.

“Due to her prior doula commitment, Morgane Stapleton is unable to join Bluebird as scheduled with Chris Stapleton,” the ACMs said in a statement to the publication. “Miranda Lambert will take the Bluebird stage with Chris tonight for ‘Maggie’s Song’.”
