Why ‘Disappointed’ Brian Cashman Makes No Changes to the Yankees

After their worst series of two weeks to open a season in more than two decades, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman acknowledged that it ‘was definitely a disappointing start’, but adds no major changes.

“It’s 15 games,” Cashman said. “These are 15 games I would like to forget.”

The GM said owner Hal Steinbrenner was “clearly disappointed. He invested a lot in this situation. ”

But Cashman added that they are not going to change their mind.

“We know there are better days ahead,” Cashman said during a Zoom call on Monday, a day after the Yankees dropped their fifth game at stake when the Rays swept a series in The Bronx.

He also supported manager Aaron Boone.

While Boone “is in the same boat” as the rest of the organization regarding the difficult verdict, Cashman said he “does everything he has to do.”

Cashman points to Boone’s ‘nasty’ message to the team after Friday’s loss.

“He’s strong with the group and does everything he has to do,” Cashman said. ‘And the most important thing is to support these guys. We trust these guys throughout the course of the season. He’s doing everything he can … I have a lot of confidence in these guys. ‘

The GM said the same of its players.

“I do not see us shaking up the roster too quickly,” Cashman said.
