[WATCH] Danger! Guests Ken Jennings pays tribute to Alex Trebek – Deadline

On Monday the old Danger! the champion, Ken Jennings, is the first host for Alex Trebek after the program.

Jennings paid tribute to Trebek just after stepping on stage. “Sharing this stage with Alex Trebek was one of the greatest honors in my life,” he said.

“Not many things in life are perfect, but Alex has done this job pretty perfectly for over 36 years, and it was even better up close,” he continued. “We were blinded by his intelligence, his charm, his grace – there is really no other word for it.”

‘Like everyone Danger! fans, I miss Alex a lot, ”Jennings said in a trembling voice. “And I thank him for all he has done for us all,” he added.

“Let’s be perfectly clear: no one will replace the great Alex Trebek, but we can honor him by playing the game he loved,” he concluded. Jennings then introduced the evening’s contestants and began the show.

Last week, Danger! Mike Richards, executive producer, told Deadline: ‘Ken stepped in and did an excellent job for us as host. We will have a range of hosts during the spring. ”

Richards did not want to discuss names, but Katie Couric is apparently on the list, as the Los Angeles Times reported last week.

A permanent new host will not be named before the spring, Richards said.

“We’re going to take our time and talk to a lot of people, a few people who are hosts and see what our fans think, too,” Richards said.
