In Sunday’s episode, ‘Katy Perry called’ American Idol ‘the hopeful Casey Bishop’ really, really good ‘. Co-Judge Luke Bryan went even further.
“I think she’s the damn winner of ‘American Idol,'” he said. (Watch the video below.)
Bishop, 15, of Estero, Florida, “had no performance experience yet” before her audition, although she reportedly attended a performing arts school.
Her talent was unmistakable when she exhibited a cappella version of Motley Crue’s “Live Wire” and a Sarah Vaughan-inspired version of “My Funny Valentine”.
Bishop sang the second song after Perry asked her to highlight the soul of her voice – and it proved the climber in Bryan’s prediction.
Bryan compares the impression she made to musician Alejandro Aranda’s 2019 Test, after which Perry predicted he would win. Aranda took second place.
