It looks like another of Tennessee’s volunteers wants a release from his National of Intent in the wake of the recent change in coaching the Vols. Four-star class of 2021 running back Cody Brown of Parkview High School in Lilburn, Ga., revealed in a post on his Twitter account on Friday that he wants to be on the market again after signing with Tennessee during the early signing period last month.
The 6-foot, 217-pound brown, simply tweeted ‘#freeme’ on Friday afternoon, with the same hashtag used this week in a now-removed tweet by four-star Tennessee defensive end / linebacker signer Dylan Brooks of Handley High School in Roanoke, Ala. Brooks hopes to be released from his National Letter of Intent with the Vols to the former coach Jeremy Pruitt‘s shooting on Jan. 18, according to a report by 247Sports’ Keith Niebuhr last week.
While Brown has yet to confirm that he has applied for a release from Tennessee, sources close to his recruitment have said that he considered his options after firing Pruitt and that he was interested in being released from his National Letter planning to.
Brown’s tweet comes just two days after Tennessee announced the hiring of a new coach Josh Heupel on Wednesday. Heupel joins Tennessee’s new athletics director Danny White by leaving UCF for Knoxville. Former Vols rugby coach Jay Graham, who was one of Brown’s primary recruiters for Tennessee, will also join Alabama’s staff.
According to the industry-generated brown, Brown is one of three runs in the Full 2021 yard class, and the overall outlook is no. 231 and the no. 247Sports Composition. He also rated a four-star outlook from 247Sports.
Tennessee’s other two fullbacks, four stars Tiyon Evans of Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College and three-star Jaylen Wright from Southern High School in Durham, NC, arrived on campus nearly two weeks ago and has already joined the Vols as early enrollments. Brown has been planning to enroll at Tennessee for months after graduating from Parkview in May.
