DALTON, Ga. President Donald Trump held a rally on Monday to sharpen support for the two sitting Republicans the night before their crucial Senate coaching, but quickly moved on to attacking members of his own party, spreading misinformation about voter fraud and what else pending the 2016 and 2020 elections.
“The fact is, we won the presidential election, and we won it big. And we are going to win tomorrow, “Trump said during an outdoor event on Monday night. “The Democrats are trying to steal the White House. You just can not allow them to steal the Senate.”
Elected President Joe Biden won Georgia by nearly 12,000 votes and will be sworn in later this month despite Trump’s repeated attempts to block the results.
Trump has been putting pressure on Republican Senator Kelly Loeffler and Republican David Perdue, whose Senate tenure expired Sunday, for weeks, to drop his unfounded allegations of widespread voter fraud or the risk of shutting down his dedicated base.
That pressure seems to be effective.
In her brief speech Monday, Loeffler announced that she would object to ratifying the votes of the Electoral College on Wednesday, joining an increasing number of Republican senators who have pledged on Trump’s demands that they do more in the election in his favor to reverse. The vote is largely performative and has no real risk of taking away Biden’s presidency.
Perdue, who did not personally attend the protest due to close contact with someone who tested positive for the coronavirus, addressed the crowd in a video message.
“If you’re as crazy as I am about November, then get up with us and fight,” Perdue said. “If we do not stand up and vote tomorrow, all that President Trump has done to make America great again is gone.”
Perdue faces Democrat Jon Ossoff, while Loeffler faces off against Raphael Warnock after the candidates failed to reach the 50 percent threshold needed for a direct victory in November.
Trump has expressed concern from some Republicans that he would use his last rally to sabotage the party by telling his supporters not to participate in a voting process he has spent the past two months on.

The president’s refusal to accept the election results reached on Saturday about new heights when he begged Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in a telephone conversation to “find 11,780 votes” and threatens to conspire theories of voter fraud to continue.
Trump approved the pledge by using much of his 70-minute speech to voice the number of ballots he was missing according to the missing ballots, although there was no evidence to substantiate his allegations.
