Trent Reznor, the Oscar-winning composer and lead singer of Nine Inch Nails, has denied allegations that he was involved with Marilyn Manson in a sexual assault, which Manson made in his memoir.
Earlier this week, Manson was accused by his former partner, actor Evan Rachel Wood, of years of “horrific” abuse. She had previously accused an anonymous person of sexual assault, physical violence, including torture, and various forms of emotional abuse. Four other women simultaneously published reports of Manson’s sexual, physical and emotional abuse.
He denies the allegations, calling them ‘horrible distortions of reality’ and saying ‘my intimate relationships have always been completely one-sided’.
Following the allegations, a passage from Manson’s autobiography The Long Hard Road Out of Hell began circulating online in 1998 in which Manson alleges that he and Reznor sexually assaulted a heavily intoxicated woman. Reznor responded by saying:
I have spoken out over the years about my dislike of Manson as a person and severed ties with him almost 25 years ago. As I said at the time, the passage from Manson’s memoirs is a complete fabrication. I was furious and insulted back when it came out and remain so today.
The book comes from an unpublished Manson interview in 1995 with Empyrean magazine. According to a publisher’s note in the book, the interview was never printed in Empyrean because the magazine’s publishers’ believed that the magazine followed unethical interview procedures to obtain information from Mr. To acquire Manson ‘.
Reznor and Manson were once close, with Reznor signing him to his label Nothing Records and his co-producer of his first two albums. He later cut ties and called Manson a malicious man in 2009. [who] will step on anyone’s face to pass and cross any decent boundary. When he sees him now, drugs and alcohol rule his life and he is a foolish clown. ‘
Following the allegations of the five women mentioned above this week, further women claim that Manson is being abused.
Model Scarlett Kapella alleges emotional, physical and sexual abuse; the musician Chloe Black alleges physical and verbal abuse; the artist and filmmaker Louise Keay Bell, who had previously made allegations against the singer, repeated her allegations that he had “emotionally and financially abused me” and harassed her following the initial allegations. Fashion stylist Love Bailey claims he held a Glock pistol to her head during an incident in 2011, and retailer Torii Lynn also claims Manson abused her. Manson did not respond to these allegations. The Guardian contacted his management for comment.
Following allegations this week, Manson was dropped by his label Loma Vista Recordings and removed from two U.S. TV series in which he would appear.
Los Angeles police were called to the singer’s home on Wednesday night to check on the singer’s well-being and told the Daily Mail that “there is no evidence of any problems”.
His ex-wife Dita Von Teese made a statement following the allegations, saying she did not abuse Manson, and that their marriage was terminated due to “infidelity and drug abuse”.
