Tony Romo kills Cardinals Rams broadcast by COVID-19 protocols

Tony Romo will not call Sunday’s game against the Cardinals and Rams for CBS due to COVID-19 protocols, announced the network Saturday.

Boomer Esiason takes the place of Romo along with Jim Nantz and Tracy Wolfson for the week 17 game scheduled at 4:25 p.m.

CBS did not say whether Romo, 40, tested positive for coronavirus or was in close contact with someone who did. Networks have allowed broadcasters to call home games during the pandemic, but the window for CBS to set up the necessary equipment for Romo, if he is healthy enough to work, could be tight.

The former Cowboys quarterback signed a ten-year, $ 180 million contract with CBS in February worth about $ 17 million a year, making him the highest paid NFL analyst.
