Tom Reed Ambitious House lawmakers look for promotions GOP Rep. Tom Reed Accuses of Sexual Misconduct Democrats Under Pressure to Deliver Labor’s Litigation Test Bill MORE (RN.Y.) said Sunday that in 2022 he would not be eligible for any elected office in a statement in which he also apologized to a former lobbyist who accused him of sexual misconduct.
Reed’s statement comes after Nicolette Davis, a former lobbyist who is now a second lieutenant in the military, told The Washington Post. in a story that appeared Friday that Reed sexually harassed her four years ago.
According to Davis, Reed rubbed her back and thigh and unhooked her bra at an Irish bar in Minnesota while working as a lobbyist for an insurance company.
Reed opened his statement by Davis apologizing and saying, “Although I only hear this case, as Mrs. Davis said in the article, I hear her voice and I will not dismiss her.”
“As a reflection, my personal representation of this event is irrelevant,” he said. Simply put, my behavior caused her pain, showed her disrespect and was unprofessional. I was wrong, I’m sorry, and I take full responsibility. ”
Reed said the incident took place during a time when he was struggling with alcohol and that he had been recovering for four years.
“This is by no means an excuse for anything I did,” he said. “In accordance with my recovery, I publicly take ownership of my actions in the past, I offer this amendment and I again humbly apologize to Ms. Davis, my wife and children, loved ones and all of you.”
He also apologized to his wife, children, family, colleagues and voters in his congressional district in the statement.
Reed had mentioned a previous vow that he would serve only six terms, or 12 years, in Congress in his decision not to elect him for any elected office. The allegations against Reed were published after the legislature told Fox News that it was considering suing New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo

Davis approached the Post about her account in mid-February ahead of Reed’s comments on Fox News.
Last week, Reed responded to the Post response in a statement issued by his office, saying “this report of my actions is not accurate.”
Reed said he would spend time “improving my performance in the past”.
