Today’s free Epic game turns a normal ticket into a rogue adventure

Four kings, four queens and four ‘Jacks’ (whatever that is) appear in every normal playing card, but we are never really told what they would rule. Solitairica, free today from the Epic Games Store as part of its 15-day free computer games, once again sets the standard deck in a rogue RPG game, complete with spells, enemies and a nasty boss.

As the name suggests, Solitairica is a twist on solitaire card games, but it has been enhanced with RPG battles and a roguelike progression system. It boasts procedure-generated enemies, spells you can throw and combine, and four ‘energies’ to master in place of the four standard packs. Your maps can also be upgraded with game pieces you collect on each trip, so the game changes and evolves the more you play.

Your task is to learn the ways of battle at Kismet, with the ultimate goal of defeating the evil emperor. To do this, you must first take on enemies such as jam cubes, ice priests, bureaucrats and more.

If you want card games on a computer, there is plenty to find behind the link. You can also visit The Solitaire Conspiracy, which combines a kind of cyberpunk aesthetic with FMV tracks and was developed by the people who brought you John Wick Hex.

Go to the Epic Store to pick up your copy of Solitairica for free. You have until tomorrow at 8:00 PST / 11:00 EST / 16:00 GMT to grab it before Epic exchanges it for a new free game.
