This Massachusetts College is one of the first to distribute the COVID-19 vaccine – NBC Boston

The Northeastern University says it is one of the first colleges in the country to administer doses of the coronavirus vaccine to staff members.

Massachusetts has sent about 200 doses of Moderna vaccine to the school, half of which have already been distributed.

The state gave it to the school so that it could give the vaccine to those who fall under the first group of the state that qualifies to receive one, which includes health workers.

Officials say those vaccinated Tuesday work at Northeastern’s test centers and its health advisory services. About 100 people have already received the first round of the vaccine.

School officials expect it to receive both Pfizer’s and Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccines, depending on the offer. But as more comes in, they hope the school can give at least 1,000 shots a day at some point.
