‘The Tonight Show’ addresses Addison Rae TikTok controversy – deadline

Addison Rae, a TikTok influencer, was on The Tonight Show last month Jimmy Fallon learned how to dance.

However, the segment got slightly caught up in controversy, as it turned out that many of the dances performed by Rae were created by younger influencers, many of whom are black.

Fallon discussed the situation in the program tonight, which you can see below. He said, “We recognize that the creators of those dances deserve to have their own spotlight.”

Creators with whom Fallon spoke in the program include Mya Johnson and Chris Cotter, whose video based on Cardi B’s Up went viral.

Rae, herself, previously admitted that she did not create the dances – which are common in the world of TikTok, but said she acknowledges the creators on her social media pages. That was not necessarily possible in the NBC late-night program.

Rae, who has nearly 80 million followers on the social media site, is set to make her debut in She’s All That reboot He’s All That, which was recently recorded by Netflix.
