The Outer Banks Voice – Phase 4 group can register for Dare COVID recording

Phase 4 group can register for Dare COVID survey

By Outer Banks Voice on March 9, 2021

The weekly COVID-19 update released by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) on March 9 has encouraging news.

For the eighth consecutive week, the number of COVID-19 cases reported by the province has decreased – with 29 cases reported from March 1 to March 7. The percentage of positive tests out of all tests administered, although slow, has dropped from 7.7% to 7.5% in the past week. Given the small number of cases reported, the percentage – which is significantly higher than the current average of around 5% – indicates a decrease in COVID tests. And that is the case. The 385 COVID tests taken in the country last week are the least in a week since June.

The update also shows progress on the vaccination front. In the 9 weeks since the province started shooting, it has administered 9,398 first doses of COVID vaccine and 6,541 second doses. And in the next two weeks, he plans to inject another 3,050 first doses and 1204 second doses.

As a result, from March 9, the DHHS will begin accepting registrations for individuals in Group 4. Group 4 includes anyone 18 years and older who has one or more high-risk medical conditions and individuals who work directly with the public. Anyone in Groups 1 – 4 can now go to www.darenc.com/covidvaccine to complete the vaccination request form.

update: The DHSS reported five new cases of COVID-19 on March 9th.

North Carolina

The general trends regarding COVID-19 in the state are also clearly moving in the right direction. On March 9, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services reported 997 cases of COVID. This is the first time since October 4 that less than 1,000 new cases have been reported in a day.

Note: The NC Department of Health and Human Services posts the number of reported cases of coronavirus each morning. The number reflects positive results from all tests, including the NC State Laboratory of Public Health and all hospital and commercial laboratories. There may be other reports, from the media and elsewhere, that will contain different numbers during a given day, but this is an effective way to track numbers daily from the same source.
