Texas deserves commitment from Bryan Allen, elite security in 2022

The Longhorns started fast in 2022 and most of their success was on the offensive side of the ball. Texas hit a big target on the defensive side of the ball today with the dedication of Bryan Allen.

Aledo’s four-star safety preferred Texas over listings from LSU, Oklahoma, Florida, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma and Texas A&M. Allen was previously committed to LSU last year, but he decided to open his recruitment in January. Allen was heavily chased by Texas staff from the beginning and they were able to close the deal quickly.

Allen has excelled in high school since his freshman year. In his first season at Fort Worth Southwest, Allen was named the Defensive Rookie of the Year. During his second season, he switched to Aledo and helped the power station program win another title, achieving the Defensive Rookie of the Year in District 5-5A Division II. In 2020, Allen was part of another state championship team and won the Class 5A Defensive Player of the Year award by the Texas Sportswriters Association.

Allen begins his senior season as one of the most experienced prospects in the state of Texas, as a potential four-year starter who has played 16 games in two consecutive seasons. 247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Gabe Brooks compares Allen to the former safety of Texas and the current Miami Dolphin Brandon Jones and describes his game in the following way.

‘Possess the necessary construction and framework for a Power Five safety prospect. Skinny and athletic with room to darken the 200-pound plateau. Strong second-year production for multi-year Texas power and 5A D-II state championship team. Demonstrates impressive anticipatory properties. Diagnose quickly against running or passing. Closes downhill fast and is willing to take part in the run. Flashes impressive pursuit ability around the perimeter. Sturdy tackle that strikes good angles. Deliberately arrive and occasionally make a big hit. Displays promising recovery speed. Natural midfielder in cover. Disruptive at the catch point. Two-sport athlete running track (100 meters, 200 meters, relays). Adequate tester playing faster than test times. Must continue to hone the man’s coverage techniques and repetitions. Adequate ball skills, but can get better. Elite safety prospect nationally in the 2022 class. High-level projects with long-term NFL drafting potential. ‘

According to the 247Sports Composite, Allen at 6 feet, 180 pounds, is considered the number 6 safety in the country and the overall outlook no. 18 in Texas.
