According to police, a man was shot dead in the parking lot of a Nashville business Friday night after a robbery for a YouTube channel went wrong.
When officers arrived at Urban Air in the Hermitage neighborhood at about 9:20 p.m., they heard Timothy Wilks, 20, and a friend approached a group of people, including David Starnes Jr., with butcher knives as part of the prank.
The 23-year-old Starnes told detectives he was unaware of the prank and shot Wilks in self-defense, Metropolitan Nashville police said in a statement Saturday. The status of the friend who was with Wilks was not disclosed.
Starnes is not being charged in connection with the incident, which is still under investigation.
