SUV plows in news crew, others on Hollywood Boulevard

An SUV struck a television news crew and others on Friday afternoon as it plowed into a market on the Walk of Fame in Los Angeles, Hollywood.

A Fox 11 News photographer and reporter was one of five people hit the station tweeted. One person did not want to be taken to a hospital, but four others were admitted to the hospital with serious to critical injuries, the Los Angeles Fire Department said in a statement.

The circumstances of 16:00 just falling down doors of the El Capitan Entertainment Center, where ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ was recorded, were unknown, the department said.

News footage of the scene showed a white Nissan Pathfinder on a sidewalk and in front of the market.

Los Angeles police officer Mike Lopez said the driver was arrested and is being investigated for driving under the influence. It was not clear if the driver was one of the five injured.

The investigation into the collision continues, he said.
