Super Bowl Sunday is in my opinion the best day of the year. Not because it’s the NFL Championship, but because it’s become a legal gambling holiday. As sports gambling laws have become legal in many countries over the past year, sports books can set records on February 7, as they offer all sorts of fun props that everyone wants to end the NFL season with. How long will the national anthem last? Which team will pick up the first bag? Who calls the first time-out? It adds a whole new element to the Super Bowl broadcast.
I researched all the Super Bowl props offered by William Hill Sportsbook and identified five on which I was going to spend money. Some are your normal game props like Over / Under at a wide reception or running sites, but others are not relevant to the game itself. Let’s go ahead and jump in.
Super Bowl LV is almost here, and you can watch it for free in the CBS Sports App.
All odds for NFL are via William Hill Sportsbook.
1. Coin toss: heads or tails
Tail (-101)
Some people like coins and others hate them. On the one hand, it’s pure luck and you can not claim to have read well about what’s going to happen, but at the same time, would not it be great to start the Super Bowl with a win? As SportsLine has pointed out, tails are the winning coin in two consecutive and six of the last seven Super Bowls. Overall, tails have been the winning coin 29 times and 25 heads.
My motto has always been ‘tails never fail’, and I once encountered an opponent who claimed that my narration was statistically incorrect. Right there and then I pull out a quarter and say, “Tails will come up more times than heads if I turn them over ten times.” Sure enough, tails won six to four. The opponent was not convinced that I proved my theory, but you can not argue with the fact that tails have already won twice in the Super Bowl. Ride with me. Join the movement.

2. Tyreek Hill total reception site
Over 93.5 (-115)
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will definitely plan to stop the fast Hill, but I’m starting to wonder if that is not possible. In the Kansas City Chiefs’ divisional game against the Cleveland Browns, he caught eight passes for 110 yards and then exploded for 172 yards on nine catches in the conference game. This was Hill’s third consecutive season with over 100 yards! In the Chiefs’ Week 12 meeting with the Buccaneers, Hill had the best game of his career. He left 269 yards and three counts on 13 touchdowns through the air, and no one could stop him. One of my predictions for Super Bowl LV is that Hill will win Super Bowl MVP. I’m not going to empty my bank account on that prop, but I’m going to take the Over to its receiving farms.
3. Tighten the first bag
Chiefs (+115)
Eric Fisher suffered a torn Achilles in the AFC Championship game and Chief Mitchell Schwartz is already in an injured reserve with a back injury, but I’m thinking of taking the Chiefs to pick up the first bag at Super Bowl Sunday. . Patrick Mahomes has only been sacked once this post-season, while Tom Brady has been sacked seven times in three games – including the three times he was taken to the ground by the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship. Mahomes is more agile than Brady, meaning he is more willing to try to escape the clutches of backward defenders, while Brady has shown on more than one occasion this season that he is good at going down and watching the next play.
4. Will both teams lead in the first half?
Yes (+105)
I really like this prop. This past post-season, the Chiefs left behind in all three playoffs with double figures, but won again with double figures. We also saw the Buffalo Bills go up nine points against the Chiefs in the championship game last Sunday. I can see how the Buccaneers first succeeded with a field goal, and then the Chiefs responded with a touch. Boom, it’s money in your pocket. This prop hit in last year’s Super Bowl and I think it will happen again.
5. The first pass by Tom Brady is:
Complete (-180)
Sometimes the juice is worth the pressure. Brady makes his 10th Super Bowl appearance, which is the most of all time, and he has won six, which is the best by any player. He usually thrives in these big games and wants to get things rolling from the first time the Buccaneers touch the ball. Brady has completed his first pass attempt in three of the last four games, including in two consecutive games. Put money in your pocket early in this game and take Brady to complete his first attempt to succeed.
