Sunday Burquest, former participant in ‘Survivor’, dies at 50 – deadline

Survivor star Sunday Burquest has died after her latest battle with cancer. She was 50.

The former contestant was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier in 2012, although she became cancer-free after several surgeries and treatment, she received a second cancer diagnosis about a year ago. Doctors revealed she had months to live after discovering that Burquest had esophageal and ovarian cancer.

Her daughter, Kennedy Burquest, confirmed she passed away today via Instagram and posted a touching tribute to her late mother.

“To my incredibly beautiful mom, thank you. Thank you for fighting for as long as you did for as long as you did. Thank you for being a best friend, a role model, a sister and my mother in one. Thank you for raising me to love Jesus, and for showing love to others. This is something you did so well. It breaks my heart to know that you will never see me or be there when I have my first child on my wedding day. But I know you’re watching over me. Although it hurts me so much to see you go, I’m so glad you’re happy again. I’m glad you can be with Jesus and see your father. I’m glad you’re not in pain anymore. I’m glad I’ve been with you for the past few months. I loved taking care of you. You will always be my favorite patient. I love your heaven to and fro a million times. I know one day we will meet again. Until then, I will miss you every minute and try to make you proud. Rest in peace mom, I’ll see you soon, ”Kennedy wrote.

Burquest made her name on the 33rdrd season of CBSs Survivor. The season was nicknamed “Millennials vs. Gen X”, with ten contestants born before 1982 and ten born after 1984. At the end of her run she ended up in 7de place. Burquest earned the respect of others by eventually joining the Millennial tribe, despite having started in the older group.
