Several Starbucks stores across Manhattan closed yesterday amid fears of protests, the company said.
According to a statement, the coffee chain giant cites possible demonstrations as reasons for the closure of ‘select shops’ in the city.
“Out of an abundance of caution and keeping the safety of the partner (employee) and customers in mind, local leaders have decided to close select stores in the Manhattan area due to possible protests taking place today,” he said. a spokesman said.
The company’s online retail store has shown widespread closures across Manhattan. A tipster told the West Side Rag that all places south of 110th Street were closed.
The stores are expected to reopen on Monday.
As of Sunday afternoon, no major protests or disruptions have been reported in the Big Apple.
Authorities were on high alert following an FBI alert for more possible attacks ahead of President Joe Biden’s election.
Out of caution, the NYPD has intensified its presence in City Hall, Trump Tower, federal buildings and other high-profile venues, The Post reported earlier.
