Shooting Incidents in Texas and Wisconsin Let Six Dead, Add to Spate of Gun Violence

Gunmen were released on Sunday afternoon in Austin, Texas and Kenosha County, Wis., After killing three people in what police described as targeted incidents.

In Kenosha County, three people were killed and two others injured during a confrontation at a bar. Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth said authorities were still searching for a suspect. “We do not believe it was a random act,” he said. Beth said. “We believe our suspect knew who he was targeting.”

Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers tweeted this Sunday. his ‘heart breaks’ for the people of Kenosha, the same area where a police officer shot Jacob Blake seven times on August 23, paralyzed him and caused weeks of protest and violent unrest. Mr. Evers tweeted that he and his wife ‘think of the families and loved ones affected and the entire Kenosha community while mourning and struggling with another tragic incident of gun violence. ”

The shooting in Austin took place in an apartment complex on the northwest side of the city, police said on social media. Police said the killings were an isolated domestic violence situation and that there was no risk to the general public. Police turned off a section of Highway 360 and advised residents to take shelter while searching for the suspect in the area.

Paramedics responded to the shooting just before noon, killing two women and a man, authorities said. Interim police chief Joseph Chacon identified the suspect as 41-year-old Stephen Nicholas Broderick and said preliminary information indicated he was a former law enforcement officer. Mr. Broderick’s name and age match a former Travis County Sheriff’s detective who was arrested last year and accused of sexually assaulting a child. Mr. Chacon encouraged residents of Austin to look for friends in the area.
