Sharon Osbourne hires security team after receiving death threats: report

Sharon Osbourne has reportedly appointed a private security team after receiving death threats as a result of the drama surrounding ‘The Talk’.

According to a report by TMZ, the disputed CBS co-host feels she needs to take the extra precaution after people started making violent threats on social media and called her cell phone.

Private security guards were presumably outside her family’s home in Los Angeles in case anyone tried to enter her property.

Osbourne, 68, also turned off the comments section of her social media accounts.

The controversy surrounding the British TV personality began two weeks ago when she defended her friend Piers Morgan on ‘The Talk’ because she said he did not believe Meghan Markle’s suicide or racism allegations in her Oprah Winfrey interview .

Co-host Sheryl Underwood replied, “While standing with your friend, it appears that you have confirmed something he said that is racist, or has a safe haven.”

Osbourne later tweeted an apology: “I’m sorry for anyone with color I offended and / or for anyone who feels confused or let down.”

Then The Talk stopped this week to address the concerns surrounding what was said in the program.

“CBS is committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace in all of our productions. We are also very aware of the important concerns and discussions that are taking place about events on ‘The Talk’,” a CBS spokesman told Fox News said.

“This includes a process where all voices are heard, demands are investigated and appropriate steps are taken where necessary. The program will extend the production interruption until next Tuesday while we continue to review these issues,” the statement said.

Last week, Osbourne also denied allegations that she used racially insensitive language towards her former co-presenter of The Talk, Holly Robinson Peete, who was a co-presenter of the first season of the show and went out in 2011.

On March 12, Peete claims that Osbourne played a role in firing her after she said Peete was “too ghetto”.

“In response to Holly Robinson Peete’s accusation that I fired her from The Talk, I share an email sent to me from Holly a month after she was let go by CBS,” Osbourne explain on March 13th. “Like I said before, I’ve never had the ability / authority to fire someone from The Talk.”

The wife of Ozzy Osbourne told Entertainment Tonight this week that she is not sure she will return to “The Talk” after the break.

“I do not know if it’s over. I would love to, but I do not know if I want to go back first … I do not know if I want to be there,” she said.
