San Diego Petco vaccination superstructure closes Saturday over nationwide shortage of Moderna vaccine – NBC 7 San Diego

A super-central vaccine in Petco Park in San Diego will close again from Saturday due to a nationwide shortage of Modern COVID-19 vaccines, a provincial spokesman confirmed to NBC 7.

The provincial spokesman said the closure would last until Tuesday.

This is the second time that interruptions at one of San Diego’s largest vaccination sites have forced a break. Nave 7’s Dave Summers has more.

The second dose of appointments will be scheduled automatically, the spokesman said. Those affected by the delays are advised to check their MyUCSDChart account or search for an email detailing their new appointment date.

Petco Park only administers Moderna vaccines. No information has been released on how this nationwide shortage will affect other local vaccination sites.

It’s also the second weekend that Petco Park’s vaccination website closes.

Extreme winter weather in parts of the US delayed the delivery of doses last week.

It also comes days after the province announced employees in schools, education and childcare; non-medical emergencies and workers in the food and agricultural sector can get vaccinations from Saturday.
