Combining 25 years of awards for winners of the Screen Actors Guild Awards, it’s surprising to see what can happen during this ceremony.
The SAG awards for best ensemble are not only worth watching in their own right, but the list of nominated films in the category can help predict who will take the individual awards for homes. Actors in films nominated for Best Cast are almost twice as likely to win their individual awards.
This year, the individual nominees whose films are also nominated: lead actor Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom) and Steven Yeun (Minari); lead actress Viola Davis (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom); nominated nominee Sacha Baron Cohen (The Chicago 7 Trial), Boseman (Da 5 bloods) and Leslie Odom Jr. (A night in Miami); and bureaucrat Youn Yuh-jung (Minari).
