Major League Baseball and its Players Association reportedly have an agreement regarding health and safety protocols for the upcoming season.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post reported the news on Monday and noticed the treaty contains seven innings double heads as during the 2020 campaign. There will also be extra innings changed with runners starting at second base, in an effort to avoid marathon races during the regular season.

There will not be a universal designated hit like last season.

According to reports, there is an agreement in February, a drastic improvement over last year, when the parties debated for months on a number of topics, including the length of the season, whether player contracts would be considered, how many teams it would make. playoffs and if the National League would also use designated knockers.

It was only on June 23 that the MLBPA announced the two parties agreed for a 60-game season.

While the COVID-19 pandemic was undoubtedly a complicated factor in last year’s negotiations, the protracted back-and-forth season delayed the season even further, leading to much frustration.

As far as this agreement is concerned, Hannah Keyser of Yahoo Sports noted that the union was in favor of the universal designated victim while the league was not.

The league said it was not a health and safety issue. One probable reason why the union wants to expand the DH rule is because it will create more jobs.

Sherman It has also been reported that there will be technologies similar to those used by the NBA to identify close contacts if there is a positive COVID-19 test.

When the season begins, the Los Angeles Dodgers powerhouse will defend the world series crown they won in six games against the Tampa Bay Rays.
