Rapper DMX has been admitted to hospital and is life-supporting after a heart attack, says a longtime lawyer

The rapper suffered a heart attack at about 11 p.m. Friday at his home in White Plains and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he remains in a ventilator, Richman said. The lawyer said he did not know what could have caused the heart attack.

Richman said he has known DMX for 25 years and said Saturday night that he was in touch with the rapper’s family all day. He said he was aware of the rapper’s medical prediction but declined to comment.

DMX, nicknamed Earl Simmons, erupted on the rap scene in the late 1990s with songs such as ‘Party Up’ and ‘Get At Me Dog’. His first five albums debuted at number 1 in the Billboard charts. The 50-year-old is also an actor and has appeared in numerous films.

DMX was released from prison in January 2019 after serving a year behind bars for tax fraud.
