Quint Digital Bags Google Contracts Incorrect Information About COVID-19 Vaccine in India

Quint Digital Media said on Wednesday that technology giant Google has been awarded a contract to help verify incorrect information about the COVID-19 vaccination process in the country.

However, Quint Digital did not share the value of the contract.

“The company has been awarded a contract by Google Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd to support journalistic efforts to factually verify incorrect information about the COVID-19 vaccination process in India,” Quint Digital said in a regulatory filing.

Google stated on its blog that this initiative (contract) is part of the USD 3 million Open Fund launched by Google News Initiative in January.

“The rapid nature of the COVID-19 vaccine development process and the great anxiety caused by the pandemic have made the subject of vaccination particularly susceptible to misinformation.

“Journalists can play a fundamental role in supporting evidence-based speech by listening to the attention of their audience and providing corrective information about misconceptions that are spread online and offline. To support this work, the Google News Initiative January launched a $ 3 million Open Fund, ‘Google said.

“Today we announce the 11 projects selected through an extensive review process that includes a project team of 17 people and an expert jury that judges the top candidates.

Quint Digital Media is one of the 11 recipients of the contract around the world.
