To celebrate the anniversary of the original Boxster offered for sale in 1996, Porsche has unveiled a brand new ‘Boxster 25 Years’ model. Only 1250 examples will be built, each based on the current GTS 4.0 model. That means a 4-liter flat six of 394 horsepower and a 0-60 to 3.8 seconds. It will be available with a PDK or 6-speed cane transmission, but each has this beautiful set of simple five-spoke bronze wheels.

Porsche calls this bronze color Neodymium, which is used in various places throughout the special edition model. In addition to the wheels, it will appear on the front grille, side air inlets and all exterior of the car. It is described as ‘a coppery glittering brown’ and contrasts with one of the three optional colors; GT Silver Metallic, Deep Black Metallic and Carrara White Metallic.

Given the choice, I would have the black. Especially if the inside and top of each of these Boxster 25 Years are blood red. Oh yeah, that would be extra nice. You can choose to be black on the inside and top, but that’s just a choice a coward would make.

It’s been a while since Porsche has built an attractive wheel like this. There does not have to be much for a wheel, but a two-tone color palettetoo is one way to do this. The 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 is already an achievable shape, so it does not require a finely tuned wheel design. This flat-faced five-spoke is perfectly underrated. Just a little flare up when the spoke adheres to the wheel rim is all he needs.

Just absolutely phenomenal work from the designers of this one.

If you want one of these things, talk to your Porsche dealer ASAP as it does not only hold 1250 buildings. However, it will not be cheap, as the 25 Years begin to $ 98,600 plus extra $ 1,350 for delivery. Taking into account the ‘standard’ 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 starts at $ 88,900, this commemorative package is a reasonable premium, but the wheels alone may be worth it.
