U.S. Capitol police are stepping up security after obtaining information to suggest a “possible conspiracy” by a civilian force to violate the U.S. Capitol on Thursday, March 4th.
“The U.S. Capitol Police Department is aware of and prepared for possible threats to members of Congress or the Capitol complex,” they said in a statement Wednesday. “We have received intelligence showing a possible conspiracy to violate the Capitol by an identified militia on Thursday, March 4.”
Capitol police said they had “already made significant security upgrades to put in place a physical structure and increasing manpower to ensure the protection of Congress, the public and our police officers.”
Capitol police said they were working with “local, state and federal partners to stop threats against the Capitol.”
“We take intelligence seriously,” Capitol police said in a statement. “Due to the sensitive nature of this information, we are unable to provide additional details at this time.”

The warning comes as law enforcement agencies in Washington, DC, increase security before March 4.
Sources told Fox News on Wednesday that there was real concern about activities on March 4, saying there were “specific things” about the “Three Percenters”, a right-wing military movement against the government.
But sources told Fox News there is “no increase in hotel occupancy or flights” to DC.
Moreover, there is ‘less detail’ in this threat than in the now infamous Norfolk, Virginia, FBI bulletin the night before the riot in Capitol, the sources say.
Meanwhile, other sources told Fox News that Capitol security officials left no stone unturned.
“They made the statement to make sure nothing happens,” one source said, adding that they were not identified.
An additional Capitol Hill source told Fox News they see nothing in local intelligence to worry them, but Fox News is told there are concerns about a small contingent of insurgents coming to the Capitol perimeter.
“All that is needed is a bakkie full of people with weapons to interfere with the National Guard,” one source warned of the Capitol safety warning.
The FBI said in a statement to Fox News on Wednesday: “While our standard practice is not to comment on specific intelligence products, the FBI is constantly collecting and sharing intelligence with our law enforcement partners.”
“We are always on our guard for possible threats,” the FBI said.
Earlier this week, Timothy Blodgett, acting house sergeant at the Armed Forces, said in a memorandum to lawmakers obtained by Fox News on Monday that officials continue to monitor “potential protests and activities around what some have described as the” True Inauguration Day ‘. “

The bulletin noted that the agency had no information to indicate any “specific” or “credible” conspiracies, but that it cited violence and unrest across the country related to the presidential transition.
