The new shooter Outdoors has not even been launched yet and players are already hard at work sanding for some of its scarcest equipment in the game’s recent demo. According to the developers, it got so out of hand that they had to patch it up to make legendary guns more difficult to farm, before players finally break the game’s progress.

“While we do not want to avoid farming (we get it!), The outdoor cave discovered by the triple breastplate, as well as the store, does not feel within the spirit of the game,” one said. Outdoors developers at People Can Fly (manufacturer of Bulletstorm) written on the game’s subreddit. “For this purpose, we redirect farming efforts to mechanics in the game, which can be more enjoyable for players to play through and repeat.”

Some of the specific changes to a demo for the demo that will be available later today are as follows:

  • Epic items will no longer appear in stores and vendors (within the demo).
  • Chests will no longer drop legendary items.
  • Additional rewards (at repetitions) will now have the chance to drop legendary items.

However, the team stressed that general decline figures for legendary weapons of enemies are NOT changing.

It was launched on February 25 and it did not take long before players went to the Outridersee demo, becomes one of the best Steam downloads of the week. They have worked quickly to find ways to break the booty’s exterior system as well, including discover its own outer cave with a constantly responding boss, and a three-breasted run mission players can farm within minutes without ever fighting anything.

Part of the reason players did this is because Outdoors is a genuine loot-shooter on cover, but the other reason is that all their progress from the demo will be transferred to the completed game when it appears on April 1st. People like to get a good head start, especially when I’mt come to loot games.

In the past when inventions were discovered in Destiny or National anthem (RIP), they are patched, partly to extend the life of the game and keep people grinding. People Can Fly said it emphatically Outdoors however, is not a live service game, although it will continue to support it after release. We’ll see what that means in practice once it’s finally out.
