Pinellas Adaptation Process for Vaccines for the Elderly

This is a frustrating process for many seniors trying to discuss their COVID-19 vaccine appointments.

Now Pinellas County is making some changes to hopefully improve the process.

Instead of calling and trying to make an appointment, the Pinellas Department of Health will contact seniors when it’s their turn to be vaccinated.

Residents must be registered.

Pinellas County began using the new software last month to alleviate the problems people were going through on the old system.

However, the new software was still not without its problems.

Residents aged 65 or over who have pre-registered will receive an SMS or email as the vaccine appointments become available.

Once they receive the message, they have 48 hours to book appointments for both doses of the vaccine.

The province will only contact as many people as they have vaccinations available, in the order in which they signed up. Only one text or email will be sent.
