Pharrell Williams shot dead a federal investigation into Virginia Beach police last month on his cousin.
‘Too many unanswered city and state questions. With respect, I’m asking for a federal investigation, ‘the Grammy-winning singer wrote in an Instagram post on Monday about the March 27 fatal shooting of his 25-year-old family member, Donovan Lynch.
Lynch was shot by police about a block from a separate shooting in Virginia Beach that injured eight people.
Virginia Beach police said Lynch was armed with a handgun when an officer shot him.
The body of the officer who fired the fatal shot was not on during the shooting, causing public outrage.
The investigation into the shooting by the State Attorney’s Office and the Virginia police continues.
Lynch, a Virginia Beach resident, was an offensive linebacker for the University of Virginia’s College in Wise during the 2017 and 2018 seasons and a graduate of the school in 2019.
