Pharmacist Aurora arrested for intentional coronavirus vaccine

GRAFTON – Grafton police have arrested the Aurora Health Care pharmacist who on Thursday spoiled more than 500 doses of the Moderna coronavirus vaccine, officials said.

He was arrested on charges of first-degree security, reckless prescription drugs and criminal property damage. He is currently being held in Ozaukee County Jail. The identity of the pharmacist is currently being withheld.

Police say the value of the spoiled vaccines is about $ 8,000 to $ 11,000.

Police in Grafton said the pharmacist ‘knew that the spoiled vaccinations would be useless and that people who received the vaccinations would think they had been vaccinated against the virus, when in fact it was not.

Last week, an Aurora Health employee intentionally removed 57 vials of the Moderna vaccine from the refrigerator. It spoiled more than 500 doses of the vaccine.

The president of Aurora Health Care Medical Group said on Thursday that 57 people did receive the vaccine after it was left out for longer than the appropriate time. The president said the spoiled vaccine posed no health risk. He added that it is ineffective or ineffective. He said Moderna also confirmed this.

No motive is known as to why the pharmacist did so.

Officials said no other vaccines had been tampered with.
