Vice President Mike Pence wants nothing to do with Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX)’s last attempt to give him the power to reverse the outcome of the 2020 election. In a Thursday lawsuit, Pence argued that the case of the congressman, which was filed with the Republicans against the vice president, should rather be directed to Congress. “Claims have presented an essential proposal to the court that raises a number of weighty legal issues regarding the manner in which the presidential election votes should be counted,” Pence said in a statement. “But the plaintiffs’ claim is not a good way to address these issues because the plaintiffs have sued the wrong defendant.” “An agreement to establish that the vice president has a discretion over the score, which is filed against the vice president, is a material inconsistency,” the letter adds. Gohmert’s lawsuit claims that a law of more than 100 years that governs the process of the Electoral College is unconstitutional, and Pence should be able to determine which ballots to count.
