Pelosi says Schiff, three others to lead Dems in the election challenges for Dems in Electoral College

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday announced the four members of Congress who will lead Democrats during the expected challenges and debate during the joint congressional session to ratify President-elect Joe’s Biden Electoral College.

Reps Adam Schiff, Zoe Lofgren, Jamie Raskin and Joe Neguse will lead the Democrats in the “constitutional, historical and thematic justification to respect the will of the people,” Pelosi wrote in an open letter to colleagues. “On the floor of the house we will have a civic lesson on protecting the integrity of our democracy.”

“Tomorrow is about guaranteeing confidence in our democratic system,” the speaker continued.

Several Republican lawmakers in the House and Senate have said they plan to ratify Biden’s 306-232 victory in Electoral College on charges of fraud to help Biden in several battlefields.

While the move of Trump supporters in Congress to raise objections to the outcome of the presidential election in states such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada and Wisconsin will slow down the process, it is expected to fall far short.

The combined votes of Democrats in Congress, as well as many Republicans who do not support Trump’s efforts to block the election results, should be more than enough to reject the pressure from the president’s supporters.
