‘Peaky Blinders’ Steven Knight says a movie that’s going to happen – deadline

EXCLUSIVE: With yesterday’s news that the BAFTA period is gangster email Peaky Blinders will conclude with its sixth season is a promise that the series will “continue in a different form”, said creator Steven Knight. He then tells Deadline: ‘Covid has changed our plans. But I can say that my plan from the beginning was to end Peak-like with a movie. This is what’s going to happen. ”

There has been a movie for the series for a long time, and although there are no details at the moment and Deadline understands that nothing has been formalized, it seems like a logical extension for the show that has become its own industry – or like Knight told me. In the past, Peak-like is “an animal that will not die”. There were tethered books, clothing, an official soundtrack, and a video game. Knight was also approached about a spin-off ballet version and a West End musical.

‘Peaky Blinders’ to conclude with season six now being filmed; Story will continue “in a different form”

Knight had previously shown interest in concluding the Cillian Murphy-led drama TV series with a seventh season, but the pandemic threw a key in the works. Season 6 began airing Monday, which was delayed by the pandemic for just under a year. Details are still under surveillance, though Knight said earlier that he planted 5 seeds in season 5 to pick up later, one of which ‘is that fascism is going on’.

Executive producer Caryn Mandabach tells me: ‘This last season of our beloved Peaky Blinders going to be the best one yet. Steve’s incredible ability to lead the world is only compared to his ability to make Tommy Shelby the indelible character of our time. ”

Season 5 was the most watched yet for the Shelby family as the series has gone from strength to strength since 2013. The past season kicked off with the financial collapse of 1929 and with Tommy Shelby of Murphy, an MP. As Tommy Oswald approaches Mosley (Sam Claflin) and his daring vision for Britain, he realizes that his reaction will not only affect the future of his family, but also the future of the entire country.

The season also went into Tommy’s psyche, and Knight has said over the years that he wants to “rehabilitate” the character. His plan, he said earlier, was to end the series around seven seasons with the start of World War II Peak-like becomes a story about people between the wars.
