A vaccination clinic planned in Pasadena on Thursday has been rescheduled after a registration link was shared with a large group of people who are not yet eligible for the vaccine, city officials said.
According to the city, the registration link was sent to a group of individuals for entertainment, news and production. The group is not eligible for vaccinations under state rules unless it meets other criteria.

It is believed that more than half of the 1,500 appointments for Thursday’s clinic are made by people who are not eligible. Thursday’s clinic was canceled due to the violation, city officials said.
The offense was brought to the city’s attention by a Los Angeles Times reporter who called to ask if the link was legal.
“We sent it to those in the qualifying levels, but with a big red, big font – do not share this link with others who are not eligible,” said Lisa Derderian, the city’s public information officer. “If there are any questions, they should make the call as this LA Times reporter did.”
The call was the only one from anyone who questioned the registration link, Derderian said.
Initially, anyone who was not eligible and received the link was advised to cancel their appointment. City officials said later Tuesday morning the clinic had been canceled.
Vaccinations are available for the following groups that appear on Pasadena’s website for health departments.
- Healthcare works provide direct care
- Residents and staff of long-term care facilities
- People 65 and older
- Childcare and K-12 teachers
- Food and agricultural workers.
“Individuals who tried to enroll for vaccination before it was their turn will not receive vaccine,” the city said in a statement. ‘Please wait your turn. Unfortunate circumstances like these hamper our ability to vaccinate residents as quickly as possible. ”
Pasadena reported 10,993 cases of coronavirus and 320 COVID-19 deaths as of Monday.
Attempts to jump the line and get the vaccine have been repeatedly rejected by state and local health officials, but the problem persisted. Los Angeles County health officials handled cases involving people who had to obtain secure registration codes to make appointments at vaccine clinics reserved for certain groups of residents.
