An Ohio teenager has been arrested after being found in a bag with a downloaded semi-automatic rifle, ammunition and a possible gas mask, law enforcement told News 4.

The officer arrested the man, identified by several law enforcement sources as Saadiq Teague, by officers at the Times Square subway station near the A / C / E line.

NYPD officers conducting a station inspection noticed Teague as he took the loaded weapon out of his pocket and laid it on the ground. Officers approached and questioned him before arresting him, officials said.

Investigators were trying to determine why the 18-year-old was there and what his intentions were, but officers did find a loaded magazine clip in his possession, the official said. Senior police officers said Teague visited the city with a friend, who later went to the transit station to find out why Teague was arrested.

Police found marijuana and a bong in the hotel room where the teenager was staying. Law enforcers looked to see if the gas mask Teague had on him was actually a device that could be attached to the bong to increase the peak of smoking.

Officials told News 4 Teague claims he is from Ohio and that it is legal for him to have the weapon. A senior law enforcement official said they were investigating whether Teague was related to a man killed in a shootout with Ohio police in March.

An FBI spokesman said they were aware of the gun arrest and were investigating.

No information on charges has been released. An investigation is underway.
