Officers turn to highway pursuit in San Diego, Orange and LA counties – NBC Los Angeles

Officers chased the driver of a minibus on SoCal highways from north San Diego County to San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles before a CHP officer turned the vehicle around in the Pacoima area.

The chase started in Oceanside and is heading north on the 5 freeway.

It entered downtown LA around 3:30 p.m., and arrived ten minutes later at Cahuenga Pass between Hollywood and the San Fernando Valley. The driver continued on the North 101 Highway and crossed onto the 170 Highway.

It looks like two people are in the van. The driver apparently waved a gun out of the window in the East Los Angeles area.

He then threw the gun at the 170 highway, where it was tracked down by officers.

A CHP officer carried out a PIT maneuver a few kilometers later, turned the van and ended the chase in Pacoima.

It was not immediately clear what led to the chase.
