A pack of young cyclists attacked a BMW in broad daylight in Manhattan and terrorized the man and woman inside a terrifying ambush captured on video.
Several attackers surrounded the luxury ride in Fifth Avenue and 21st Street around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, with some bumping into the vehicle with their fists and feet, and another crashing into a bicycle.
One attacker got started, jumped on the hood of the BMW and jumped on top of the windshield, causing it to partially climb in, according to the video.
“It was an animal attack in broad daylight,” said one Manhattan police officer, adding that the occupants of the vehicle, a man and a woman in their 50s, were scared to death. “It shows how far the city has deteriorated and that politicians better get their heads out of the sand and deal with these problems before there is anything left.”
The same group attacked a taxi a short time later, the source said.
Both incidents are being investigated.
It was not immediately clear what preceded the wild incident, or whether any arrests were made.
